Carpenter Emil Ekelund is our new ambassador in Sweden
Our newest ambassador in Sweden is carpenter and snowboarder Emil Ekelund (Instagram @goodwoodbygg).
Emil runs his own carpentry business in Röddinge in Sweden, where he lives with his partner Tove, their son Bosse and their cat K2. He has many years’ experience in the construction industry, with a special interest in older houses and clever solutions – something he often shares on his social media.
A craftsman with a passion for quality
“There’s a lot of problem-solving in my job,” Emil says. “I’m involved from the first shovel in the ground to the last piece of trim, and when you work with old houses you really have to think creatively, that’s the kind of challenge I enjoy.”
When he’s not on a construction site, you’ll often find him in the mountains, preferably with a snowboard strapped to his feet. “It’s my biggest passion outside of work. I used to compete, but nowadays it’s all about the love of the sport and getting outdoors,” he says.
Transporter with upgraded van racking
Recently, Emil’s Volkswagen Transporter T6.1, which he’s had since 2021, needed a serious upgrade. Thanks to System Edström and our dealer LN Fordonsmontage in Kristianstad, he now has a customised van racking system, whose double floor quickly became a favourite feature for Emil. “I measured it and my snowboards fit perfectly in there, so I can bring them along too,” Emil says.
The goal when designing the new system was clear: to create better organisation and more efficiency in everyday work. “It has really taken things to the next level. I can fit more gear in, everything has a better structure and I’m able to bring a wider range of tools. It worked fine before too, but now everything is just that bit better,” he says.
He wanted a work van with flexibility, one that could be adapted to different types of jobs, and it was also important to keep as much free floor space as possible to make it easier to transport larger tools and materials. The solution was a double floor, making maximum use of the storage space.
“Without the double floor, a lot of space in the van goes to waste. With this setup I can store a ton of gear in the drawers under the floor, while still keeping a clear loading area. I still have a loading height of one metre, so I can easily fit larger building boards standing upright,” he explains.
Emil’s favourite features
• Double floor with extended drawers – extra storage space for both tools and, not least, his snowboard.
• Systainers and assortment cases – storage for smaller parts, with practical shelving that makes it easy to organise many at once.
• Dropfront shelves – easier access to tools and equipment stored on the shelves.
• Pegboard tray and hooks – perfect for keeping tools from brands like Hultafors and Hikoki in order.
For Emil, keeping his van organised has always been a given. “It might be a cliché, but everything needs to have its place. If you can use Systainer cases or different drawer sizes, you can create a system where you know exactly where everything is. It makes the job both faster and easier, and you don’t waste time looking for things,” he says.
Welcome to the System Edström family, Emil – we’re truly excited to have you with us.
