Automotive Repair Systems is a market-leading provider of smart repair services, trusted by vehicle manufacturers, dealerships and national automotive brands. Known for precision, reliability and professionalism, their technicians work nationwide, delivering high-quality cosmetic vehicle repairs, from alloy wheels to bodywork dents, on-site at dealerships and customer locations.
To support this mobile workforce, Automotive Repair Systems runs a fleet of more than 180 custom-built service vans. The company partnered with System Edström to design and fit out these vans to their unique requirements. Each van is tailored to a specific repair function, enabling engineers to work efficiently, safely and professionally, no matter where the job takes them.
The challenge
Operating across the UK, Automotive Repair Systems’ engineers face daily challenges:
- Working off-site at diverse and sometimes space-limited locations
- Supporting a wide range of vehicle manufacturers
- Managing safety and compliance in mobile environments
- Ensuring all tools and specialist equipment are accessible and secure
Their mobile workplaces therefore needed to be more than just practical – they had to be safe, flexible and aligned with the company’s high standards.
The solution
System Edström worked closely with Automotive Repair Systems to develop five different van specifications, each tailored to the unique needs of the business:
Core features across all vans include:
- Shelving, dropfront shelves, support rails, pegboards, lashing rings
- Rubber mats, Hexa flooring and poly lining for durability and safety
- Essential safety gear: eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, first aid kits and COSHH cabinets
- Power and lighting: mains extension leads with USB, twin RCD consumer units and PIR baton lamps
Custom-fitted specialist equipment:
- Air-fed systems for safe spray operations
- Bead breakers for alloy wheel repairs
- Dräger X-plore 8000 respirators to ensure technician safety
- On-board compressor/generator units for complete mobility
Every van layout was optimised to give technicians everything they need to complete jobs efficiently and professionally, while staying compliant with safety standards.
